# Claude (MCP)

JustPush ships an [MCP](https://modelcontextprotocol.io) server, so you can let Claude send push notifications, list your topics, and create new topics on your behalf — straight from a conversation. This guide walks you through connecting it.

You don't need an API key or any developer setup. Authentication is handled with a one-time email code, exactly like signing in to the JustPush app.

## What you'll be able to do

Once connected, Claude can use these JustPush tools:

| Tool             | What it does                                                                                                       |
| ---------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Send message** | Sends a push notification. Picks your default topic unless you name another, and supports normal or high priority. |
| **List topics** | Lists all the topics you belong to. |
| **Create topic** | Creates a new topic that you own. |

Every action runs **as you** and only ever touches **your own** data. Claude can't see or act on anyone else's topics or messages.

## Before you start

* A JustPush account (the same email you use to sign in to the app).
* One of:
  * **Claude on the web** — [claude.ai](https://claude.ai)
  * **Claude desktop app** (macOS or Windows)
* Access to your email inbox (you'll be sent a 6-digit login code).

***

## The connection address

You'll be asked for the server URL during setup. It is:

```
https://api.justpush.io/mcp/justpush
```

That's the only address you need — Claude discovers everything else automatically.

***

## Connecting the server

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Open the connectors settings

In Claude (web or desktop):

1. Open **Settings**.
2. Go to **Connectors** (sometimes labelled **Custom connectors** or **Integrations**).
3. Click **Add custom connector**.

{% hint style="info" %}
The exact wording moves around as Claude updates. Look for anything about "connectors", "custom integrations", or "MCP servers".
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Add the JustPush connector

1. **Name:** `JustPush` (anything you like — this is just a label).
2. **URL / Server address:** paste the connection address from above:

   ```
   https://api.justpush.io/mcp/justpush
   ```
3. Click **Add** / **Connect**.

Claude will reach out to JustPush and start the sign-in flow automatically.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Sign in with your email

A JustPush sign-in window opens.

1. Enter the **email address** for your JustPush account.
2. Click **Continue**.
3. Check your inbox — we'll email you a **6-digit code**.
4. Type the code into the window and submit.

{% hint style="info" %}
The code is short-lived. If it expires before you enter it, just request a new one from the same screen.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Approve the connection

After signing in, you'll see a **consent screen** showing that Claude (identified by name) wants to access your JustPush account.

1. Review what's being requested.
2. Click **Approve** (or **Allow**).

You'll be returned to Claude, and the JustPush connector will show as **connected**. That's it — you can start asking Claude to send notifications.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Try it out

In a Claude conversation, try something like:

> *"Use JustPush to list my topics."*

> *"Send a JustPush notification to my default topic: 'Deploy finished ✅'."*

> *"Create a JustPush topic called 'Server Alerts', then send a high-priority message to it saying the database is back up."*

Claude will ask for your confirmation before it actually sends anything.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Staying connected

You **don't** need to sign in again every hour. JustPush keeps your connection alive in the background, so Claude can keep working for days without interrupting you.

You may be asked to sign in again if:

* You've been disconnected for a long time (roughly a month of inactivity).
* You manually disconnected the connector, or revoked access (see below).
* Your JustPush account was closed.

***

## Disconnecting / revoking access

You can cut Claude's access at any time:

* **From Claude:** open **Settings → Connectors**, find **JustPush**, and remove it.
* **From JustPush:** contact support to revoke the connection from our side. Once revoked, Claude is signed out immediately and would need to be re-approved.

***

## Troubleshooting

**"It keeps asking me to sign in again."** Make sure you completed **both** the email-code step *and* the **Approve** screen. If you closed the window before approving, the connection never finished — remove the connector and add it again.

**"My login code didn't arrive."** Check spam/junk, confirm you typed the right email, and request a new code. Codes are single-use and expire quickly.

**"Claude says it can't reach the server."** Double-check the URL is exactly `https://api.justpush.io/mcp/justpush` with no trailing spaces.

**"Claude sent to the wrong topic."** If you don't name a topic, messages go to your **default** topic. Ask Claude to "list my topics" and then specify the one you want by name.

**Still stuck?** Reach out to JustPush support and mention you're connecting via Claude/MCP.

## Privacy & safety notes

* Claude authenticates as **you**; it can only do what you can do in JustPush.
* We never share your password — sign-in is a one-time emailed code.
* Every tool call Claude makes is recorded in your JustPush audit log.
* Removing the connector or revoking access stops Claude immediately.
